Life Statement:
Romans 8:37-39
Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Bio:
I have been married to my husband John since 2005. We have four children Victoria (Tori ‘05), Julieanna (Jules ‘07), Sarah (‘07), and Jedidiah (Jed ‘14). My family is extra special to me. We had one child, then lost a child and battled uterine cancer. After the cancer, we were told we couldn't have any more children, so we looked at foster care adoption. Five years later and without any placements, we had to lay our plans down. But God…. heard the prayers of our 6-year-old little girl and brought us a sister pair! We settled in with them for 2 or 3 months when another miracle happened. We were pregnant, and after 3 girls, it was a boy. That little boy brought us together as a family. If you ever wondered if God has a sense of humor, I can tell you he does! We went from a family of 3 to a family of 6 in an 11-month period.
My family and I have been very active in our church over the years. I love how the Body of Christ works. When you do life together no matter the task be it serving at VBS or washing dishes after potluck you are doing it with friends so it doesn't feel like work! Isn't God good!
Finally, I have been teaching for 24 years now. The first 19 were in public school. I have a K-12 Instructional Strategist I and II teaching license, as well as Work Experience Coordinator and Job coaching. In public school, I witnessed through my life, versus my words. My coworkers were my mission field. This past year, we figured out that I had taught almost every grade and made meaningful connections with many of those I worked with. The last 5 years I was most fortunate to teach 5th and 6th grade and eventually Resource at Heartland Christian School in Council Bluffs, Iowa. I cried at the first staff meeting when the Director opened in prayer. Being able to teach from a Biblical perspective is something I will never take for granted. I love having the opportunity to pray with and for students and coworkers openly. I also love the opportunity to share my faith. Personally, 6th grade was a tough year in school. It was a year of change in so many ways, and it had long term effects. I feel like I can be a help during this age as I am compassionate, firm, and yet still fun. I look forward to getting to know and become a part of the NICS family
